Adam Martin Third In 2022 Birkie!!!
The Wausau Nordic Ski Club garnered some additional bragging rights with a thrid place finish by Adam Martin in this year’s American Birkenbeiner ski race on Saturday. Adam was part of a three person breakaway and led the group over the International Bridge with about 400 meters to go in the race. As they came down off the bridge and onto Main Street, it was a tight race all the way to the finish where the eventual winner was determined by a photo finish.
Adam has been skiing for the Craftbury Green Team for a few years now and has evolved into one of the top USA distance skiers that included winning the Mens 15k Classic race at this year’s US Nationals held Utah. He has skied in Europe on the World Cup circut in the past and will be heading back over after this race for more WC starts as the ski season will wind down. Adam started his career in Wausau as a part of the Wausau Night Glider racing team in Middle School and later won a State Championship as a member of the Wausau East/West ski team. He skied collegiately at Northern Michigan University before joining the Craftsbury team.
You can watch his race in it’s entriety thanks to the live stream provided by Engage Livestream Broadcasting . Skip to approximatly 2:50:00 in the video to watch them race across Lake Hayward and down to the finish.
