Wausau Nordic Ski Club hosts and supports multiple events throughout the year.
Grind Up Granite
The 2023 Grind Up Granite Event was held on Sunday, August 27. The race starts at South Mountain School and makes its way up to the top of Rib Mountain finishing near the observation tower. The event features both classic and skate roller skis events.
The race is part of the CXC Swenor Cup Roller Ski Series - to be eligible for series points racers must ski both events.
Together with the Rib Mountain Alpine Club, the Wausau Nordic Ski Club hosts an annual Ski Swap. The 2023 Swap is scheduled for Saturday November 4th at John Muir Middle School.
Alpine and Nordic gear will be available and accepted for sale. Get your gear, buy 50/50 raffle tickets to support the youth program operational costs, and volunteer!

Snekkevik Ski Race
The Snekkevik Ski Race is the second oldest continuing organized ski race in the state. In 2023, the event was scaled back to a High School and Middle School race only and moved to the golf course due to conditions at Nine Mile. Over 300 youth skiers attended skiing a classic race and was a very successful event.
Wausau Nordic Ski Club will hold the Snekkevik at Tribute Golf Course on January 6, 2024 on the trail we created last season.

Cooperative Event with IronBull
A cooperative event with IronBull will be held on January 27, 2024 on the Tribute Golf Course trail. This new unnamed event is being planned as a time limited, multi-lap event, similar to the 24 Hours of Nine Mile, where competitors compete as teams or individuals, with varying time categories.
We are hoping that this new event will appeal to a broad array of skiers who are more focused on their personal goals or competing as teams that bring friends together for a joint challenge. We will be looking for help in organizing and marketing the event to the broader ski community, not just the usual crowd of racers.
