Wausau Nordic United Varsity Girls Take Home 3rd at the Hodag Challenge

January 5-6, 2019

This weekend we raced at the annual Rhinelander Hodag race. We have been having a tough time finding snow this season and this is one of the few places close to home. It was supposed to be a skate day on Saturday and a classic day on Sunday. That all changed when they didn’t get the snow they needed, so it was two skate days, both being 5k. The second day was a pursuit from the first day. Our team did very well considering this was the first race of the year. For the Varsity Boys, we had two in the top 20 (led by Stephen Koch and Caleb Novitch). The Varsity Boys placed 5th overall for their team. For the Varsity Girls, we had three in the top 20 (led by Olivia Dreger, then Lauren Lackman and Ally Swensen). The Varsity Girls places 3rd overall for their team. The JV Boys had one in the top 10 (Cooper Stamp) and four in the top 20 (Lucas Allen, Cole Lozon, Sam Hagadorn and Will Hagadorn). The JV Girls had two in the top 20 (Sophie Schenzel and Isabelle Bednorski). The Wausau Nordic United Team had lots of fun competing with a social gathering afterwards to eat good food and relax! Thank you to all coaches and parents for your support. We really appreciate it!
