Wausau United Middle School Racing Team

Open to athletes in grades 4-8 from Marathon County and beyond. All skill levels are welcome.

Club membership is required. Club membership runs from October 1 to September 30.

Racing Team registration opens in late summer / early fall each year.

Grades 4-8 Cross Country Racing Team

Promotes team culture
Encourages self-development and personal growth while having fun and making new friends.
Governed by the Wisconsin Nordic Ski League
Open to athletes from Marathon County, WI and beyond
Skis (both race & “b” skis) and poles provided by Wausau Nordic Ski Club.
Team jacket and racing gear provided by WNSC

Registration fees include entry fees for all team Wisconsin Nordic Ski League races as well as State sprints and distance competitions

Christmas Camp: Houghton, MI - Dec 29-31, 2023

Commitment

Ski season is late November - early March, beginning with dryland training.
Early season may require occasional travel to snow.

Practices are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
Most meets are on weekends
League race events are hosted at various locations across Wisconsin.
Additional competitions are available.
Optional summer training sessions, roller ski camps, and events

Expect frequent weekend commitments from December - March

Safe Sport Certification

The Wausau Nordic Ski Club requires our program leads for youth programs to be Safe Sport Certified. All other Snow Strider coaches, helpers and parents are strongly encouraged to complete the free “Parent’s Guide to Misconduct in Sport” at https://safesporttrained.org/

Background checks are conducted for all assigned coaches and managers of our youth programs.
